I was just there Tuesday night...probably your 2nd to last, if not last appointment? Had my belly pierced...anyway, I am just still totally amazed at how great you are with those hands! I mean, the last time you did my nose, and then my Tragus...I was surprised because I expected it to be much worse than it actually was. Of course there was some more nervousness coming in to do my naval (I get nervous with just about anything though)...but again, what a pleasant experience. I just can't imagine that any other piercing done by you would hurt or be horrible. I also must comment on how there's no irritation, redness, or swelling or hardly any bleeding! I keep forgetting that it's actually there to be honest...shouldn't I be feeling at least a slight tenderness? Is the lack of this because I had it done 2 times prior (somewhere else and years ago...)?? Does the scar tissue present itself as being less sensitive after all this time?

 

Anyway....just wanted to throw you an email of appreciation :)

Graceland Tattoo Had a Photo Feature in the Poughkeepsie Journal.

The Poughkeepsie Journal came in and took picture of the studio while I was working. This was in the paper last week. I'm not sure exactly when, but I captured this shot from their website. I'd like to thank Carmen Letteri for being cool with them taking photos. Her husband Greg is a also a client of mine. They own Cafe Primavera next to the Bardavon Opera House in Poughkeepsie.

We were fortunate enough to get a photo feature in Octobers Chronogram. They did a little spread on the Villages of Wappingers & Fishkill. The magazine is on stands now.

T Shirts have arrived!

Our new, limited edition T Shirt has arrived.  We have sizes starting in small and going on up to 3X in white, black and olive.  We also have woman's cut T's small to XL in pink, light blue, white and black.  They are $20.  If you need it mailed out to you it's $22.50.

Gracelandtattoo.com Launches Mobile Website!

I hate looking at most websites on my cell phone browser. I doubt I'm the only one. They can be clunky and slow. So, I have built a custom mobile web site.  You still enter gracelandtattoo.com but it will direct you to a site that is formatted for whatever mobile phone you are using.  All you need is an internet enabled cell phone. This way you can see the important stuff.  We have limited artist galleries, directions, contact info, policies and aftercare.  It's easy to navigate and to the point.  If you need to see the whole site, you just log onto your computer.  I hope it makes browsing gracelandtattoo.com on your cell phone convenient.  You can also install a Blackberry or Iphone gateway app icon for 1 touch access.  We will soon have one for android platforms too.

Ty has left the building.

Well, guest artist Ty McEwen headed home.  He did some sweet dog portraits; 1 black & gray and 1 full color.  He also did a few really nice bio-organic pieces on our very own Diego, both cover ups!  We also headed to Off the Map Tattoo in East Hampton, MA and I got tattooed by the amazing Cory Norris.  We had a blast.  Ty plans to make another visit in the spring and I hope he does.  This post includes one of his tattooed done during his stay here.

The Kiosk is Here!

A year in the making and it's finally here! This is our long awaited, multimedia, touch screen kiosk. Read artist bios and view their portfolios. Browse thousand of neatly categorized flash images. You can read customer testimonials and watch them in our video section too. We have even produced time lapse tattoos so you can see work created start to finish in a matter of a few minutes. There's a What's New section as well. Of course we have included aftercare for both Tattoo and Body Piercing. The Kiosk will also help you find answers to the most frequently asked questions. This is displayed on a HUGE 27 inch, high def, touch screen and housed in an amazing natural sculpture. The technology and housing was mad possible through Tattoo Now and Custom Rustic Furniture. It's a new piece of technology so we will be working out the bugs in the weeks to come but we'd love you to come check it out for yourselves.

Tim Mueller is Coming to Make Some Skin Pictures!

We have finally set a date for Tim Mueller.  He will be back for his 3rd visit.  He's coming out from his private studio in California.  His work is sick so check out his portfolio here on the Kiosk.  Book some time.  He will be available for appointments from November 2nd through November 12th.  He's is an amazing tattooer and even a more amazing person.

Another successful trip to the k 104.7 radio station.

Thanks to everyone on "Waking Up with the Woodman".  Allison and I had a great time with the morning show crew.  We gave away 3 body piercings with H2Ocean aftercare as well.  It was a blast as always.

What the hell are people thinking?

For anyone amped up to have their under age child tattooed.  This may give you some insight into why this may not be the best idea.  In New York State it is illegal to tattoo anyone under the age of 18 regardless of parental consent.  I realize this is an extreme case.  

Georgia couple charged with child cruelty for tattooing six kids

Atlata - A Georgia couple who decided to drill a small tattoo with a rigged up gun onto the hands of six of their children, except for the baby, have been hit with a slew of charges.

Child Cruelty charges have been leveled against a Georgia couple who allegedly tattooed six of their children with a homemade device made from a guitar string connected to an electric motor. The New York Daily News reports that police arrested Patty Jo Marsh and husband Jacob Edwards Bartels late last year after the biological mother of some of the children discovered that markings on their hands wouldn't wash off. Marsh and Bartels have each been charged with three counts of illegal tattooing, second degree child cruelty and reckless conduct. The couple was released Friday after posting a property bond of $10,000 each. Georgia has a law that makes unlicensed tattooing and the tattooing of minors illegal. Police say five of their six children, aged 10 to 17, were given a small black cross tattoo on their hands. Another child had "mom and dad" lettered on one hand. The youngest child was left unmarked. Police described the home-made tattoo gun as a plastic pen with a needle made from a guitar string that was connected to an electric motor. Patty Jo Marsh thinks this is a big overreaction by the public to the tattoos. She told the Atlanta Journal-Constitution:

"We would never do anything to hurt them. I don't understand why this is getting blowed up so big."

But the Chattooga County Sheriff, John Everett says he thinks it is a big deal.

"It's unusual. I've never seen parents tattooing their kids like that."

When news broke of the children's tattoos, The Georgia Department of Family and Childrens Services placed all the youngsters with other family members. Marsh says she gave the children tattoos because

"They asked us to."

But upon her release on bail, Marsh told the Atlanta-Journal-Constitution:

"I'm their mother. Shouldn't I be able to decide if they get one? They weren't hurt by them

Just to let everyone know.  Joe Maher has officially joined the Graceland Family.  He is a great artist and a super nice guy.  He's been doing some great work and taking really good care of his clients.  At this point Joe is taking walk ins and setting up appointments on Saturdays only.  Come on in and meet him, set something up or just swing through for a walk in.

Dustin's visit was a good time...in fact, he's coming back to do some work and have some more laughs. As of now Diego and Adam are booked solid for the month of June.  That will remain the same unless someone cancels.  But Dustin will be available for some high quality tattoo art.  His schedule is filling up so get in while you can.

It was awesome having Dustin here.  He was super laid back and a great artist.  Yesterday he spent over 6 hours with our friend Marc blasting out a sick Gekko.  We hope to have him back again this summer.  He was a great addition to the shop, even if it was for 3 days.
